Permanent Store Closure due to COVID, August 2020
It’s upending news that Nordstrom, Santa Barbara, will not re-open in August, 2020.
I’m sure their presence, which has provided elegant merchandise and superior customer service since 1990, will be greatly missed in the community.
I will be ever grateful for the exceptionally unique opportunity to have collaborated with Nordstrom, SB, on bespoke public art installations in the store for the past several years.
I will miss my exciting creative times there, the terrific people who interacted with my art, and those who worked there who made it the wonderful store it was.

POP-UP INSTALLATIONS
"Nordstrom Department Store, in Plaza Del Oro, Santa Barbara, collaborates with artist Lenore Tolegian Hughes on THE ART OF BEAUTY to stimulate the senses used to experience beauty, fragrance, and the imagination; and SURPRISE POP-UP-INSTALLATIONS to offer unexpected art experiences and events for the enjoyment of the Santa Barbara community.
Ms. Hughes is a professional fine artist known for her watercolors, paper weaving collages, and installations. In her work she interprets the world around her by making art out of everyday packaging materials, product wrappers, and familiar images and symbols in advertising. She reconstructs the familiar in hopes of exposing a new reality, and invites viewers to take a second look.
In this collaboration with Nordstrom, Hughes incorporates her prize-winning and unique flower arrangements with her collage installations inspired by the colors, scents, textures and sights of the Nordstrom experience.
When asked about her unique flower arranging skills, she says, 'I like thinking out of the vase.'"
